I wasn't recieving any errors playing Starcraft 2, but after the BSOD's happened a few times playing CS:S now I am getting them even when playing Starcraft 2. I GREATLY appreciate the help to find a solution! I love these games and it's painful not to be able to play them.

I'll be following those steps 1 by 1, trying to induce a crash, and then I'll keep going down the list until (hopefully) the crash stops. I'll update periodically.

Completed so far:
1. I'm downloading and installing ATK0110 driver for WindowsXP/Vista/Win7 32&64-bit
Update: After downloading ATK0110 driver, my games were running smooth all night last night, but this morning it began crashing and I got a bluescreen. So far, stability seems better, but still not perfect.

2. I'm running sfc/scannow in an elevated command prompt.
Update: It said Windows Resource Protection did not find any integrity violations.

3. I'm enabling Driver Verifier now.
Update: I could not even log in to windows after enabling Driver Verifier. All I could see on my screen once it got to the log in, was thick blue rectangular streaks all the way across my screen.

Hello Crowdd.

The BIOS is very backdated there.
Code:
BiosVersion = ASUS M2NPV-VM ACPI BIOS Revision 1103
BiosReleaseDate = [COLOR=Red]09/06/2007[/COLOR]
If possible, plan to update it. Get the version 5005(though it's a beta, but its the latest), dated 2010.07.15
Get it from ASUS - M2NPV-VM

Then let us know which driver you want to update.

As per your motherboards specifications ...
Code:
 Chipset [B]:[/B] NVIDIA GeForce 6150 + nForce 430
But not finding any later version of nforce 430 series update. It seems to be not supported anymore. No chipset update from motherboards page. You may have a look in Drivers - Download NVIDIA Drivers

Okay thank you, I will try what you suggested. In the meantime I had a question:

Could a driver be causing my computer to overheat? Because I was able to game all night last night when it was colder in my room, without a crash. But also the streaking I saw when running Driver Verifier leads me to believe it's more than just over-heating. I hope this helps someone.

No, a driver should not cause overheating. If it is overheating, the reason behind it is to be searched either in hardware or in the computers environment.

The things those may cause overheat are ....

  • an old GPU
  • dust within the computer..... if the air vents and the fan grills are blocked by dust
  • insufficient and not properly working fans/cooling
  • insufficient power supply
  • dried thermal paste
  • overclocking
etc some things. But usually not a driver. Drivers initiate the hardware and keep them working, nothing more.
