frozen laptop

I was wondering if by running Norton and Windows Security Essentials simultaneously (which I was accidentally doing) could that be the reason why my laptop has been 'freezing', meaning the mouse, and none of the keys work. So now I have neither installed, and after doing a system restore, I'm wondering which one I should install, and if one or the other may have caused this issue. Any ideas? Thanks.

hi fafafofo, and welcome to sevenforums,

it's generally a bad idea to have two av's running at the same time.

as to which one to keep, well mse is free and i suppose you've paid for your norton?

why pay for something that you don't use - or conversely, why not use something that you've paid for?

which version of norton is it, by the way?

I guess the question is I'm not sure if the Norton comes pre-installed? (after a system restore) B-c if not, I'll just install the Windows Essentials. Does that sound right?

if norton comes preinstalled, you may as well keep it - or is just a trial that came with your new computer?

mse is very good too.

either should keep you safe, so long as you don't do anything silly.

It's a 60 day trial, and it is installed b-c I have the option to uninstall it, so I guess I'll keep it for a while. Would running those two at the same time cause the frozen screen?

maybe - i would only use one at a time.

if it were my computer, i would uninstall the norton trial - and i would use the norton removal tool just to make sure that it's completely gone.

then install mse.
