Is it possible for virus or malware to corrupt the filesystem and thus causing an I/O device error?

My Fiance was playing a game she bought at Walmart. It started messing up. I then went to msconfig.exe and disabled Spotify and Glary Utilities from starting with Windows. Then in services.msc, I disabled the 3 google services. I restarted the system to enter Safe Mode and I been having this I/O device error ever since.

IO means either the drive is a problem or the vale or controller. First job is run a full disk scan

After seeing the chkdsk scan report, I'm beginning to believe this is more of a hardware problem with my internal HDD.

The attachment seems to be from XP or Vista, but the Info is worded differently. Same info though.

The following report is after attempting to "clean" install of Windows 7 Home Premium (SP1).

The other image is related to a canceled installation.

Enable Spotify and Glary Utilities and in services.msc, I enable the 3 google services. See what happens.

While attempting to "clean" install of Windows 7, I had deleted all partitions to allow the installation to create "new" partitions.

The error message said the changes will not be saved.

I used Safe Mode to disable them...
...mscong (admin) to disable Glary and Spotify
...services.msc (admin) to disable the 3 Google services

The free and open-source Gparted in Ubuntu detects that the System Reserve partition is the malfunctioning partition.

It also detects that the hard drive is dismounted.

Can the cmd prompt at boot up (Shift+F10), or it's diskpart, mount the disk/volume/partitions?

If Google, Spotify, and Glary are indeed still on the hard drive, would I be able to use the cmd prompt at boot up to enable them?

Would clicking the "Load Driver" and running the driver for the hard drive "clear" or "bypass" the I/O device error?

Please provide the line's I need to enter when working with the cmd at boot and instructions for working with the "Load Driver" option.

Your time line is very confusing.

If you deleted all partitions on the drive, there is nothing left on the drive. You have to start a new installation.

Having said that, it let's me know what my next move should be.

Considering the fact that all recoverable data is lost due to deleting the partitions at the first attempt to re-install Windows, I will redirect my focus to the Installation and Setup section here on the forums.

Thanks a bunch :)

Yeah...at that link, see the screenshot below number 9...My comp never got past 0% and it gave me the disk 0 partition unable to be formatted and it included error code 0x80070057.

Code:
===============================================

        HD-1 (Good) HD-2 (Defective)
Laptop 1 Installed Unsuccessful
Laptop 2 Installed Unsuccessful

Summary:
1. Laptops Non-defective
2. Media Non-defective
3. ChkDsk 25-30% Bad Sector's
4. Gparted I/O Device Error

Possible Solutions:
1. cmd (Admin)
2. I/O Threshold Adjustment
3. Workaround
4. Corrective Software
5. HD Replacement
6. PC Replacement

===============================================

There doesn't appear to be any physical damage to the hardware.

I hook it to the other pc externally and cmd (admin) chkdsk.exe finds nothing wrong except some bad sectors.

I switched the hard drive with the one in the other laptop and it installed windows to that drive no problem.

Then I switched the hd's back the way they were, it yet again installed on that one too.

Two successful clean install's unless it was that particular hard drive.

no corruption on the installation media.
no damage to other hardware.
no visible damage to the hd in question

Aren't there other things to try or even a fix or a workaround or anything.
Even if it's possible to adjust the I/O threshold
(I'm not sure if that's possible through boot cmd prompt or external usb connected to another working pc)

I hope this little 4GB RAM and 128GB thumb stick thats running will last until my buddy can get his non-working pc to me.

He said if I can get any use out of it...I can have it.

25% of bad sectors means your disk is dead.
You need to replace it.
