Full Network Map shows a "switch"? I did not add intentionally

In my task bar over the internet icon there is a red X. Typically this means I do not have internet. However, I know I have internet because I am leaving this post.

When I look at my internet map there is also an "X" in the path to the internet (The globe/planet).

When I look at my full internet map there is a "Switch". What is that? I've not seen it. I recently added an Ipad to the network. I also have a tablet and Xbox which are wireless. They are all off.

I typically use a VPN. But, I have never noticed the "switch". Could this be the VPN giving me errors? While I do not use it, I have been looking into running a TOR relay network. But, I have been passively been looking at this idea for months. Other than download and install the TOR software from their site. I have not used it other than to check to see if it was functional. I have not made and intentional changes on my computer. Both TOR and the VPN have been functional for months.

Today is the first time I ever had an issue of this nature.

(Yes, I know I have an update, I updated after I took the screen shot. Daddy is my main computer) Win 7 64 bit all up to date.) I am removing and readding the snips right now.

The VPN is not on now. I ran CC cleaner to clear any "garbage". I also rebooted - red X still there in task bar and in the pic above. WTHeck?

There is no more red "X". But there is still the switch thing. I guess I never looked at the "full map" before. Is this normal? Should there be a switch? What the heck is it?

Gateway is your Modem, Switch is your router. All normal, mine looks identical to your network map.
