Hey Windows 7 User's,

About 2 day's ago I've switched from XP to Windows 7 and everything is going good, except one thing. I have a game I play, when I played it on my XP everything was good. No lag, and it was pretty smooth. Once I upgraded to W7 I start to lag when I play, and it isn't smooth. I've dropped the game performances and it's still the same.

Anyone know the problem?

Thanks. Post here

It might also help to know what the name of the game is. If we're talking about a game like Crysis or GTA IV, you may not meet the minimum requirements. Both games almost require a super computer to run good. The minimum requirements under Win 7 will be higher than they were on XP.

Have you tried updating your video card driver since installing Win 7? The generic drivers from Microsoft suck, for lack of a better word.

Edit: I see this is an online game...duh, helps to read. How is your internet connection?

With Windows 7 you have aero running in the background, add this to your game and your card might be slightly overwhelmed.
Several things to try:
Use a basic theme (aero turned off)
Shut down any unnecessary start up programs
Shut down any unnecessary services

I would try combinations of the above and see if it helps while playing.

try to play is dx 9 mode. xp did not support dx10 I noticed a difference (performance decrease) in dx 10 compatible games from my change to xp to vista then and then better performance when i swapped back to xp. When I changed to seven things got better. But still kinda sluggish. I couldn't run on the higher setting that i could in xp. Mainly because of dx10 that my card is kinda crap for.

I would invest in a newer card. It doesn't have to be a current gen card but within one or two generations. I am an ati guy so a 38xx or better card ( or nividia equivalent)

How do I play it in DX 9 mode?

Even though Windows 7 (and now Vista) is DX11 capable doesn’t mean you automatically get to run games in DX11 mode!!!

In order to run in DX11 (or 10 for that matter) 3 things must happen:

1- The Windows must support the mode(s)
2- The game must support the mode(s)
3- The video card must support the mode(s)

If any one of these 3 requirements aren't met the game defaults to the lowest DX mode possible - DX9 (or lower depending on the game).

Here's an example - you have Fallout 3 (DX10), Windows 7 (DX11) and an ATI 2600 or Nvidia GT 8400 (DX9 cards) - well….Fallout 3 will run in DX9 because the video cards are only capable of running in DX9 mode.

On the other hand, again with Fallout 3, If we have an ATI 5970 (DX11) and Window 7 (DX11), the game will run in DX10 mode because the game does not support DX11.

Now, if we have Assassin’s Creed 2 (DX11), Windows 7 (DX11), and an ATI 5970 (DX11), well…we have a complete DX11 system that will run in DX11 Mode!

So to answer your question, looking at your system specs, and the specs for Soldier Front, you're already running in DX9 since both the video card and the game only does DX9.

As for the games performance, try updating your DX files -

Contrary to popular belief even though Windows 7 is DX11 capable, you STILL need to update the DX9 files. And Microsoft continues to update all the DX files so updates are still in order.

Web installer - Download details: DirectX End-User Runtime. if you have issues getting it to update, then download the entire 104MB file here Download details: DirectX Redist (February 2010)

Hope this helps.
