I hope to get help here as the answer seem impossible to find elsewhere on the net!

I have (or had...) a validated and genuin OEM Windows 7 product key and everything has worked fine for several years.
The product has been validated and Windows Update has worked fine.

But now the
Windows 7 is no longer validated!
"Status is not available"
"Product ID: Not available"

A
Windows 7 validating on Microsoft sais that there are files missing or are corrupt.
So how do I fix this?
I have the product key, I just need to know where to activate it again and how!

Also the Windows Update has stopped working with error C0000022 so I guess these two things are connected somehow?

Will my system recovery CD (not system restore) help or will that just wipe the whole computer out?
(I don't want to do a complete reinstallation of Windows 7
)

Tried another system restore point but that didn't help either.

Very greatful for help in how to solve this! Thank you!

Thank you!

However, I have unfortunately already tried that example out.
I don't have the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Enum\Root\LEGACY_SPLDR key in my registry at all, so I'm stuck there as well.

My system is in Swedish but I did the cmd commands suggested in the post, and it all sais that "Error: The registry key or the value as asked was not found".

With a diagnostic tool I got an
error code also (attached file).

Hmmm....?

Ok, you got to run these commands in command elevated command prompt.

DIR C:\Windows\sppwinob.* /s
icacls c:\windows\system32\sppwinob.dll
sfc /scanfile=c:\windows\system32\sppwinob.dll
icacls c:\windows\system32\sppwinob.dll

This is how you can open elevated command prompt.

click on Start, All Programs, Accessories – then right-click on Command Prompt, and select Run as Administrator. Accept the UAC prompt.

This was a tricky one! Only one language there, unfortunately (?).
And the Windows 7 edition is correct and genuine, it has been all along but stopped so for about a week ago.
(I'm so greatful for you help!)

I fixed it and I'm so happy!

What I did was that I uninstalled firewall (ZoneAlarm) and AVG and then used a system restore point from a month back.
Not only for a few days.

This is what I belive happend ; The security programmes has somehow blocked the system from proper system restores until now, and I could not find out why. Then I did the same procedure in safe mode I was told that Windows Installer was disabled (all of a sudden).
So in Services I reactivated it, then cleaned the registry with Ccleaner and run the system restore point. Now it all run smoothly and is as it should be!

I suspect that a third party programme or Snap.do is the cause to this mess and "hijack", even though the malwareprogrammes did not find anything even in advanced settings and I had to manually delete snapdo-things from the registry.
At least this is the only malware I know of that I've had to deal with lately.

So, it's all good for now. Thank you very much for your help, archer! :)
I'll do my best now to pay back this help by helping others in this forum!

Please follow this tutorial and post an MGADiag report - then we can see what the problem is.

Ignore errors produced when clicking on the Copy button - they simply mean that the tool could not create the backup files for some reason. The data is still copied to the clipboard for pasting to your response.

Please also state the Version and Edition of Windows quoted on your COA sticker (if you have one) on the case of your machine (or inside the battery compartment), but do NOT quote the Key on the sticker!
