Solved Get rid of "images", "styles" folders on desktop

Apologize in advance for what surely has been asked and answered before, but a quick search of this forum did not give me what I am looking for.

On my desktop are two folders, labeled images and styles, that I do not need to see. What setting must I change to make them disappear from the desktop (without impacting the functioning and appearance of my Windows installation?)

The content of styles is a file named lame.css and a sub-folder CVS with 7 files in it; the content of images is one .gif and two .png files and a sub-folder CVS with 7 files in it.

Right click on them and check Hide.

Okay, but then a dialog box pops up asking me whether I want to hide only this folder or subordinate folders and files as well? Which should I choose?

Update: Now I've tried both ways but the results are not OK. In either case, the folder icon in question does not disappear. Instead, it simply grows dimmer but stays in place on the desktop.

More help, please?

LAME has to do with sound editing/recording/playback. Not sure about CVS.

Hmmm, good catch -- yes, Lame was something that I downloaded for Audacity (an audio software). The logo graphic in the "images" folder matches the logo in the "C:\Programs (x86)\Lame For Audacity" folder.

Now why were these two folders created on the Windows desktop? Maybe they are safe to remove entirely... since apparently they can't be hidden. ("Hide protected operating system files" is already checked but to no avail.)

Move them somewhere else and see what happens. If okay, delete them.

Solved by uninstalling Lame For Audacity, deleting the two folders, then reinstalling Lame.
