Recover Deleted Files
You can attempt to recover deleted files.
There are various (free) programs that will attempt to recover them for you.
For example, Recuva
Recuva - Undelete, Unerase, File and Disk Recovery - Free Download
You should stop using the drive so that the old files aren't overwritten by new ones.
You will also need to recover the items to a different drive/partition.
Be aware that you may not get all of the deleted files back.
Note:
I don't know if you can recover deleted files from USB sticks or SSDs.
Each:
You can prove this by:
I ended up deleting all the files from the external drive recycle bin to assist me in not getting the message again.
I accidently pressed "Yes" - so there is no going back now.
...
You must be very sure when you decide to empty your re-cycle bin, 'cos that's when they're gone forever.

BTW, I wasn't aware that you have a recycle bin on an ext HDD.....when I delete files from the ext HDD (drive F) or any of the drives they go to the recycle bin on my computer.......that is when you can re-evaluate your decision to delete and recover them later.
Each:
- Drive/partition has its own Recycle Bin.
- User has their own area in the Recycle Bin
You can prove this by:
- Deleting a file on an external drive
- Checking the Recycle Bin (to confirm it is present)
- Disconnecting the external drive
- The deleted file should not appear in your Recycle Bin
- When you reconnect the drive, the file should appear in your Recycle Bin again
