The Realtek drivers is ATI Realtek High Defintion Driver.

And yes you do get audio from DVI to HDMI - check ATI website especially the 3xxx series onwards, as the card already has HDMI on, it has audio chipset, and this is passed through the DVI-d also, and if a dvi-d to hdmi cable or convertor is used you can get sound.

Some of the ATI 2xxx cards also, and the x1950 pro gtx

What you are getting confused with is

AGP-Ati graphic cards - vast majority don't have sound cos the different manufacturers cut corners to save cash and don't implement this.

PCI-e (same Ati graphics chip versions) do have sound enabled - cos vast majority sold were this type.

On the last version ever made for AGP, 4670 chips, only one very expensive card had sound enabledthru HDMI port.

A DVi connection is digital vision signal, no sound.
A separate connector + lead from graphic card to M/board sound connector or a soundcard connector may be provided on some top end? graphic cards.

I'm amazed Win 8 runs on this system. I also read a while ago minimum support (everything fully functioning) is AMD 2core processor

What do you mean HAD ? What happen to it ?

I upgraded to a new board with integrated hdmi for my htpc.
The 3650 was agp with a pentium 4, new setup is a core2duo.

I was using a standard dvi to hdmi cable, nothing special, $5 from mono price.com.
