whenever I have graphics drivers enabled, the screen simply goes black when Windows starts. It's been occurring since yesterday, when my computer crashed with the same 116 while playing a game. The screen went completely black and the last audio segment looped. It probably doesn't show since I have it disabled, but I have a NVIDIA GTX 760 card. I have never overclocked or generally tampered with it, nor have I changed any settings or drivers immediately prior to this behavior.

Given that I've tried multiple different driver versions with clean installs, is this an indication that the card is dead? I can't imagine that it's a result of overheating or too low power, given that it has worked wonderfully without modification for the past 2 years and it crashes on what is presumably the very first usage of the GPU rather than any intensive usage.

I used to get graphics-related BSODs some months ago with varying error codes that could've presumably been related to overheating, if that's relevant.

Hello and welcome to SevenForums!

Your BSOD is, in fact, caused by your NVidia Drivers:

I'm aware. None of multiple reinstallations have helped. I tried reinstalling by the tutorial anyway: the same thing happens.

Then, unfortunately, it may be a hardware problem.

I've also noticed that the computer does not recognize whatever video card you have at all:

This indicates that your GPU is failing. Try reseating your GPU and blowing off any dust that's in the slot. If that doesn't work, then I very highly doubt that it can be able to work at all, and you would need a replacement.

Best of luck,

PeregrineX
