I got 8BG (4x2GB) Team Dark Xtreem 1600. I'm currently using Team Dark 1066 DDR2 and it's great so I thought I'd stick with them.

They sent me 2x 4GB instead of 4x 2GB but after the week I had, I couldn't be bothered arguing. Still tweaking the RAM but so far so good

There's not much to see. My heatsink covers half the board..lol

i know what you mean. The experiment of adding the 3rd, high speed fan worked out well tho. My temps barely reach 30c now

My wife was constantly complaining that I spend too much time and money on my computers....so I got a divorce

Back to the topic...I've had to down clock my RAM a bit to get it stable. I'll keep tweaking but so far I'm not too happy about it.



Was hoping for much better performance than this. My old DDR2 is only slightly slower

Try opening an elevated cmd prompt and run winsat mem. See what you get.

Yeah..I did that and only got just above 16k

Take a look at this thread and try to get comparisons. Of course there won't be any on a 990 board.

Yeah...here's my score for my old DDR2. It was great which is why I bought Team RAM for the upgrade. I was hoping for a score ~20k

It's a new board and new technology. It may just take awhile to figure it out. My Sandy Bridge was the same, it was all new to me. I still haven't figured everything out, but enough to get it running the way I like it.

I focus too much on benchmarks. In the real world, everything is running super quick. Maybe I'll forget about OCing until BD comes out

No you won't, but you probably should. Benchmarke are simply bragging rites. I have learned that they have nothing to do with real world computer use. I have benchmatked my SSD I have gotten an As SSD score of 320 and a month later it was 440, but in actual use I couldn't tell any difference. Benchmarks are just numbers. And, yes I like high numbers as much as anyone, but I also know they really don't affect my use of the computer.

They affect my use because if I get low scores I get frustrated and spend hours trying to "fix" it...lol
