good gaming laptops?

Finally bought my new gaming rig so I can finally play all my games on high to very high. And now I wanted to move on to gaming laptops for when I'm really bored on long road trips or just travel in general. I want something that's capable of playing games like Crysis and Crysis 2 at high-very high but for an affordable price e.x. 800-950 dollars or lower is good that's just the maximum price range I'll go to. Help appreciated.

Bottom Line is, gaming laptops just aren't worth it. If you got the spare cash, go for it. Gaming Lap tops just don't compare to a good rig. Build a another rig, for a friend or as a backup.

Eventually someone will figure it out, and design a gaming laptop in which the gpu can be somehow slid out of the enclosure and cool itself properly.
As long as they continue with traditional laptop design heat is always going to be a very serious problem.
It's simply too cramped in there to cool both an active cpu and a active gpu.
Someone is going to have to think outside the box (quite literally in this case) to solve the problem.
So far I haven't seen anything like this.

There are some cooler laptops that don't even require cooling pads, but they are mostly just standard to medium range laptops. Still, many have the capability to play games rather well, so long as you don't load crysis on ultra high settings (joking). If you can settle for medium settings in games that are not too graphically taxing to the system, you might look around google for a cool 'gaming' laptop that doesn't come with gut-busting gpu technology but gets the job done

check this out this would be the best possible solution but at the same time it is external and would require some working with but none the less heating issues would not be to much different then in a desktop

Very understandable ,I just wondering how come no-one gave the OP a choice like this

I think it is something good to look into especially if your not tech savy and afraid to be messing around inside a unfamilliar situation

I think this was long over due especially with how GPU'S are almost a dime a dozen these days

Well the problem I suppose is finding the hardware that will support everything you need for it that won't leave you eating hotdogs for a month because you just spent all your money , refinanced your house, and sold your car so you could buy it.

Well hopefully the person will use better judgment and save but then again that is up to the buyer !

It depends on what types of games you want to play, thier requirements and how much money you have to spend. If you want all the bells and whistles and absolutely MUST have every game on all high settings with framerates above 60 (which is way overkill for fluent video that is standard as 25 fps anyway) then you can spend a lot of money on a ( here comes the marketing catch phrase) "gaming laptop".

I have a gamng laptop - I use it for today's games. It will play any game out today very well and it only has 336 MB for video ram. On an onboard chip. On a machine bought at wal-mart for $350.00. Granted, it uses shared system memory up to 1.2 gigs for video ram. I have 4 gigs of system ram in the machine. Most games I play on medium settings. XBox ports run a little worse than games optimized for PC so I have to turn down some settings to low while keeping others at medium. Things like HDR, Bloom I may have to disable depending on the game. All my games play very well, fluent. FPS is just a number for wanna be geeks. If the game is playing at a fast rate of fluent video for you it matters not if the FPS number is 30 or 60. I don't know what my general FPS is, never checked because it is meaningless as long as the game plays well. I get the experience of immersing myself in a great game with great graphics with no slowdowns.

My point as you can see is much of the info out there is simply hype to sell more stuff and people buy into it. It's not needed if your on a budget and still want to play games nicely. If you have the money to burn and you want all high end stuff thats fine too but never let anyone tell you you have to have a high end "gaming laptop" to play good games well.
