Well... here I thought it was fixed, but it just happened twice in starcraft 2, anyone has an idea to fix this or it's my computer piece that aren't working properly.

So out of all the suggestions - what did you do?

Ati 10.8 drivers are out now (yesterday) and I know they did an interim fix on one of the starcraft games - coz others were discussing the problems!

I'll install the 10.8 drivers and will test it out, however this problem doesn't occur only in starcraft 2, but we will see !

And about this: "In your bios - instead of 'Auto-detecting' memory voltage/timings try entering the correct ones manually."

I haven't tried it yet, I have no idea where this is in the bios nor how to know my memory voltage and such, but I'll find out about it and try it out.

edit: Well with 10.8 I was just browsing for custom game in Starcraft 2 and it happened again, as for the memory voltage/timing I couldn't find it, but I'll look more into it later.

StarCraft II System Requirements

The system requirements for the StarCraft II are as follows:

PC Requirements
PC Minimum System Requirements*:

Windows® XP/Windows Vista®/Windows® 7 (Updated with the latest Service Packs) with DirectX® 9.0c
2.6 GHz Pentium® IV or equivalent AMD Athlon® processor
128 MB PCIe NVIDIA® GeForce® 6600 GT or ATI Radeon® 9800 PRO video card or better
12 GB available HD space
1 GB RAM (1.5 GB required for Windows Vista®/Windows® 7 users)
DVD-ROM drive
Broadband Internet connection
1024X720 minimum display resolution

PC Recommended Specifications:

Windows Vista®/Windows® 7
Dual Core 2.4Ghz Processor
2 GB RAM
512 MB NVIDIA® GeForce® 8800 GTX or ATI Radeon® HD 3870 or better
*Note: Due to potential programming changes, the Minimum System Requirements for this game may change over time.
Another thing you can check is to see if the game likes/dislikes certain settings you would set up in Catalyst - like (un)check/ticking "triple GL buffering"

Actually you're going in the wrong way to find a solution to my problem, it happened in way too many different games ( and youtube, watching video ! ) just to be a "game setting dislikes". I've read many many forum about it but yet no REAL solution was found to this... Problem could be related from heat/broken videocard/broken motherboard/etc... I simply can't send an email to every company saying it could be the cause of any parts... From what I've also seen, the problem not only happened to ATI user, Nvidia and Vista users are also affected.

Hello All First Time Here, Hey Knetog Im having the same Problems that you are Having, heres how it Started. I have been using Windows XP 32 on this Rig that I built for about a Year now and Have been playing Bad Company 2 with no problems. I had some exrty cash so I got Windows 7 Home and a XFX 5770 Card and Installed the 10.7 Drivers for it last weekend. Everything loaded good even the Catilyst control center . Installed the Game and soon after I started playing it would Crash to Desktop. I then noticed that I would get this Error on the Desktop saying Display Drivers have stopped responding and now have Recovered. I tried other Drivers and still got the same error , So I went back to the my Nvida 9800gtx card But the Game would still crash but no more error . On Monday I talk to XFX and I was told to install KB961894 I did a Complete New Install of Windows 7 and the ati card along with the patch. This Time I could not open the ATI Control center or CCC I could see it but could not open it. . So I called them back to ask why as I was talking to another man telling Him what I had been doing. This Guy started asking if I overclock and what my Ram Voltage was. I told him 1.80 and again same error would pop up I told Him what had just Happen and he just stopped Died in his tracks and told me to RMA it back it was bad.So youre not alone on this. My Friend has the same MOBO and OS as me , but a Shaphire card and defferent Ram and says it runs like a Champ. So Im lost on this one too. And Now Windows 7 lock up on me after a restart would not let me type in password I well do a post on that one to

just a side note, may be irrelivant but have you considered the hard drive. Those so called "green" HDD's only spin at about 5400rpm and are WAY too slow for anything performance related, thay can't keep up. I used one on my stepfathers build and have had many problems including slow boot times etc (i even got the 64mb cache). I think they are really ment for add-on storage and not for a boot drives. It could be causing the "lag" you speak of, maybe not?? Worth looking into. There's a few articles around just do a google search, many people not happy with those drives.

good luck

If the crashes just happen @ maximum strain on the pc ie using a data intensive game - I would also check out the power supply!

Need minimum 450w and not all psu units deliver the same punch.

If it's just one 'new' game then it's prob. crap programming/driver that needs to be sorted.

I have noticed many problems with these newer/latest games that require you to be connected to the internet!

i read most of this he is using a 650 w psu i dont think it is the driver i think it is the configuration in the bios

if you have onboard crossfire and a main gpu the main gpu should overide mine did i didn't have to adjust onboard hd4200 I fiddled with it yes but made no difference in turning it on or off so i left it on no bottle necks

could be your mobo is having issues with the pci e slot faulty card would cause damage to the slot and cause card malfuntion try using another card and see if it persist if so then i suggest taking a good look at the mobo where it could be your issue no game is that intenese to cause a hd 5770 to lag new or old this card is not a bottom feeder either so i would suggest looking deeper and as suggested

PSU might be at fault if not supplying enough voltage it can be 650 700 or what ever but if it is going bad and not supplying proper power your system will have up and down performance

Alright then.

Fix it yourself.

~Lordbob

Lol, I knew I would of received an answer of that sort, it wasn't mean or anything, but going in the wrong direction can't help either.. I was just pointing that out...

I can't test it with another video card as I don't have any other

I'm going to take a look at the "green" HDD's snipermouse talked about and learn more about it

Also I installed both Microsoft Visual C++ even if they were already installed, just in case.

Yea it could be power supply if it doesn't gives proper power, but this thing happened while watching youtube video O.o?

I'm gonna bring it back to that pc company and clearly ask them to try with another video card ( or other piece, one by one.. ) and test it with mafia 2 ( yea new game and it happened also )

Oh and I don't see anymore an HD4200 driver installed in my device manager, I don't know how but it's no more there

Don't get me wrong Lordbob75 , I am grateful for you guys time trying to help me out with my problem
