Solved Good Overclocking MB for Intel I7-3770K

No love for the asrock.

Hey paul, what were the differences in overclocking ability did you see going from the asrock to asus board?
I've got my 3770k at 4.8ghz now. I can get into windows at 5ghz but crashes within minutes in prime95. Is the sabertooth the answer?

It's not that I don't have love for Asrock I have had more success with Asus and currently running a AM3+ Sabertooth board and it looks exactly the same

Only thing I noticed was the clip for the heatsink is gone but that doesn't matter im going to mount my watercooling to it

I need to get in touch with Antec so I can re order the full parts for Intel I found the clip but it just seems not the right pieces

So I am going to hit Antec up see if I can get replacement parts shipped

I also circled the area of the missing heatsink clip I doubt it is a problem

I paid 406.11 total cost all good

I got a Ticket as well from Antec i'm hoping they hook me up with parts for my cooler

Hi mate, as far as CPU overclocking, I think the best I could get 100% stable on the Asrock was 4.8 iirc. On the Sabertooth I can run 100% stable at 5GHz, and it will go higher for benchmarks.

As I said before, it would not run my ram at full speed. At the time I had 8GB of G.Skill Trident X 2400MHz and with 8GB I had to back it down to 2200MHz, I then had the chance to get another 8GB at a good price so I did. I wanted to run the ram at full speed and I took a chance on the Sabertooth and with 16GB installed it has not once had a memory issue, I just fitted it, set the manufacturer timings, speed and voltage and it worked perfect.

Awesome Solar mate, in the UK to buy both of those right now would be around £410! Which works out to $633!
