I have an hp pavilion dv7 laptop with windows 7 64-bit.

I have to my knowledge an AMD Radeon HD 6300M graphics card.

My computer is fully updated via windows update. I also went to the HP support and driver section of the website and scanned my computer for any available updates and none were available.

I was however having some problems with the laptop for example when the computer was plugged into the power and running on the AMD Radeon card the screen brightness could not be adjusted with the keyboard shortcuts or inside the control panel settings. While unplugged (yes on switchable graphics) the Intel HD graphics card took over and I was able to adjust the screen brightness perfectly fine.

I read a few post how this was an issue with the Radeon graphics driver so I tried searching for an updated driver. The AMD Radeon website said nothing was compatible for me and to try my laptop merchant...HP website had a couple one from 2011 but when I did a scan it said no update needed. I then just decided to go into the device manager and right click the device under display adapters and hit update driver. It updated the driver and downloaded something and came back and said everything installed successfully but I am however having problems. I went ahead and downloaded the 2011 update from HP and in the control panel right clicked and hit uninstall on the graphics card and also put a checkmark in also delete driver software (whatever it said) I think proceeding to install the driver I downloaded from the website it instructed that my computer needed to be restarted which I did, But it keeps picking up that bad driver from before and keeps installing it and I can't get it to rollback. Even the rollback button in the properties of the graphics card in the device manager is greyed out so I can't rollback from there either. I don't know what to do.

The brightness buttons are now working correctly whether plugged in or unplugged but the AMD Catalyst Control Center refuses to pop up because it says I don't have an AMD Radeon installed onto this computer and I can't adjust and fine tune my graphics settings. I also don't want a bad driver to burn out my graphics card before it's time because it's conflicting with the wrong driver.

If anyone could help me I would be greatly appreciated. Thank you
Summer
