remove boot execute record unsuccessfully message appears

Hey Tony,
I actually have windows vista, however just in the last week, I have noticed exactly the same message appearing at startup. It doesn't seem to affect anything however has made me a little nervous. The only thing I have done recently is install the latest AVG.
Any help as to the reasoning behind this message would be great

Cheers

Yea avg 2013, I'm still getting the messages tony. Maybe it's a setting in avg ? That routinely scans something at start up ? I'll give it another week but if nothing's changed I might uninstall avg 2013 (hopefullly i dont have the problems jack has lol) and see if that makes a difference.

From the TuneUp website; " It’s foolproof, too, as unwanted changes can be easily corrected in the TuneUp Rescue Center." Have you checked to see if there is a backup of the registry prior to the changes?

HTH

There are two backups of the tuneup registry cleaner. Should i try to restore it?

AVG 2013 is clearly the culprit

I just installed AVG on 3 computers, and now I'm getting this error message on all of them. It seems senseless to remove the utility that is protecting your computer just to get rid of an annoying and apparently harmless message on boot up. In my opinion, the better solution is to contact AVG to see if they're already working on a patch fix to this glitch. That is the approach I'll be taking. I'll post the solution here once it's provided to me.

Gary

Hi Gary,

Why not try something different? AVG has long passed its sell-by date, and is not considered the top dog any longer.

There may be better packages out there, but AVG serves its purpose for my needs.

How can the 2013 edition that retailers sell on their shelves today, and which updates daily, be long past its sell by date as you state?

Regardless, you're missing my point. Walking away from a problem doesn't solve the problem if someone is seeking a solution and wishes to avoid dropping another $40 on new software. I'm betting that there is an easier fix. And if not, I believe AVG offers a 30 day money back guarantee. So they deserve the chance to fix their own issue.

Its a figure of speech - meaning its not as good as in its hay-day, say 6 to 8 years ago, and so its not considered top of the food chain here.

If it serves you well, that all that matters. I'm just offering an option :)
