Well, my advice would be to buy a graphics card. There are some cheap ones out there that still support Aero.

I think that Aero Glass isn't all that useful.

Your worst problem is that Intel hasn't made drivers for your graphics adapter for Vista or Win7. It may be possible to get XP drivers running under Win7, but I've never done it.

You don't list your motherboard model. I'm not sure what sort of additional graphics slot it may have. If you have a PCI slot, there are cards for it that would support the Aero features. The least expensive ones that I see at www.newegg.com that support DX10 use the nVidia 8400 chipset; the cheapest are about $40.

The most practical advice may be to stay with XP. Getting Win7 running on old hardware may be fun for techies, but I'm not sure that there's much to be gained.

I also just noticed you list only having 350 MB of ram?? Which doesn't meet the minimum requirements to run windows 7 32 bit. If you really want to run windows 7 I think your best bet would be saving enough to update your system. Or at a minimum once we know what slots are available more ram and a video card. Fabe

800 x 600 resolution? Build a new PC and junk that one. As for a graphics card if you don't play games find a motherboard with a Radeon 4200 IGP (intergrated graphics processor) and an AMD 785G chipset. If you do a 4890 or a 5870 is enough with that chipset or a 790GX/X. For Crossfire go for an FX. You can also wait for newer chipsets if you want.

I wish I had 350GB of RAM. ;)

I hope that the Upgrade Advisor would have complained if run on a machine with only 350MB of RAM.

I suppose that Julia meant a 350GB hard drive, although it's hard to tell. (That'd be a somewhat oddball size; 320 would be more common.)

I hadn't noticed that the monitor was running SVGA (800X600), but that's pretty low resolution by current standards. (That's pretty low res for a notebook by current standards.)

Sounds even less like a suitable candidate for Win7.
