That's what I was thinking someone on the Linux forum was asking about how to not loose photo quality when resizing and I did a google and there it was :/
I don't use gimp much anymore but on the Linux side I might check it out and I guess sudo it in

It's not just the quality it is what happens if you stretch the image. A normal stretch distorts everything. This technology only distorts "unimportant" areas. The first image here is stretched the second is content aware scale, the third is the original...

I've been trying to learn how to use paint.net 4.0.5 but can't find any up to date tutorials. The newest ones are from 2013.

The question I have is would Gimp be a better program to learn ? Should I stick with paint.net ?
I've seen a lot of tutorials for gimp but didn't look too close to know if they were up to date.

GIMP would be a very good choice. I started on paint dot net and moved to GIMP before PS it is more complex than PDN but worth the effort. Tutor4u does good tuts.

Gimp is good and yes plenty of youtube tutorials I believe the stable version is still 2.8.10 the newer one last I checked still had the missing icons issue ?
I do find it best to use one and learn it even if it hurts CorelPaint anyone

I think Corel Painter is more directed at digital painting. I believe there is a Lite version which is quite cheap.

Yea I'm getting used to cp it just has a good learning curve also like paint.net not allot of tutorials around

My thoughts too. I have used the CS2 version of Illustrator but don't really get on with it.
