Hard disk failure: "This may fail soon" :(

Hi. I was sitting and enjoying windows vista home premium (Dual-booting with 7 ) on my laptop, and i was formmating a part of my hard disk suddenly the computer shuts down and acts wierd when i start it the firste time, but the second time it boots normally, then when i got into windows its says "Hard disk failure" and i thought "holy ****" and tried to delete all the partions on the harddrive.I succeseded but when i try to install windows again, it says when i come to "select the drive" in the setup, it says under the harddrive "This disk may fail soon.".

Im thinking about sending it to reperation, since theres still a warrenty, but i just want to ask if there is anything other i can do/Try? (Except replacing the hard disk)

Just for "fun" you can try running a "S.M.A.R.T." disk disk utility. Windows it probably assuming the drive is close to failing because of some SMART data it's returning.

Such as, the sector remap table is full, meaning there are no more spare sectors so the next one that goes bad will start eating data, and if it's in the wrong place could eat the partition say.

Other more thorough disk analysis tools may be more specific, but more than likely there really is something unfixable.

Try a complete repartition and a LONG format, see if that does/shows anything if you want, but I'd immediately distrust the drive myself though.

(A SMART "report" may make it easier to get proper service on it)

sorry for my english....I have this problem too,man.And i try the HDD_Regenerator_1.71...
i think the LONG format help me but not,my hdd STOP and FREEZE on 49% ...i use win xp boot
in this program you can scan or repair from other sectors on hdd.I was scan from 40% to 100% and this program find me more bad sectors....i am waiting for finish repair IT and I will write today or tommorow how it finish,if it help me
