Hard drive Corrupt- Cant install windows 7 Professional

I have no Operating System on my HP Pavillion G6. When I try to install Windows 7 via the install disk, it cannot pick up my hard drive (C) or any drives for that matter. I booted to ‘Mini’ XP from a rescue DVD (Hiren’s Boot CD), the disk management in XP says that my MBR is corrupt.

My hard drive is showing up as having less space in Mini Xp.

What am I to do?

Hello and welcome mowshi mate if you are happy with doing it get yourself a new drive and format it and do a clean install. http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/1649-clean-install-windows-7-a.html If you do it this way you will have a clean copy with no HP bloatware.
Just make sure you pick the right ISO and have the activation code ready that is on the sticker on the machine

The old drive you can hook up later if you want to retrieve data via a USB adaptor

A "MBR is corrupt" does not mean the hhd is corrupt. Do you have a bootable hard drive partition program? I would format the hhd and see what i get before replacing it. GParted or Partition Wizard are good partitioning programs.

Good morning.

1.Your HDD details? Manufacturer/ Model / capacity

You can then check the manufacturer's website for the relevant HDD Diagnostic/repair tool most of which can wipe your HDD clean and restore it to factory condition. For example Seagate's SeaTools for DOS, Western Digital"s Lifeguard Data Lifeguard Diagnostic for DOS.

2. If you have more than one partition on the drive and have data on it and would like to reinstall the OS only on the System Partition, then you can run Partition Wizard Home Edition 8 from the bootable CD/pendrive, try MBR rewrite and then format only the System partition and check whether your problem is resolved.

Note: Even Partition Wizard can wipe your drive.

With no specific details on the above two aspects, I can only give the above general guide lines..

That's a top idea Jumanji forgot the Partition Wizard bootable even the secure erase on a Parted magic would do too eh?
