Hard Drive Problem

Hello.

I'm currently having a little annoying issue with my 2TB hard drive especially when I'm playing games, from time to time my games seems to stutter in the middle of playing for whatever reason, I don't know, I notice my hard drive LED from the case going solid red when it stutters, so I switched the hard drive to a smaller 320GB and the stuttering goes away.

The hard drive is a WD2001FASS and I actually got it replaced with a new one (same model number) but the stuttering still continues with the replaced one.

I heard a couple of people blaming the 64mb cache on the drive, I don't think this is the case, but could that be the culprit?

Any suggestions?

Thanks

Hello Varsarus. Welcome to the Forum.

Download Western Digital Data Lifeguard Diagnostic here: WD Support > Downloads > SATA & SAS and see what it tells you.

It also helps a great deal if we know what hardware you are running this hard drive on. If you fill out your "My System Specs" you will get much more intelligent help.
