Hard drive won't appear when in docking station

Hi all,

I have a WD My Book external hard drive that will not appear in "My Computer" when I attach it to a docking station. When I do have it plugged into the docking station, I go into Disk Management and it says "unallocated". I know the drive works because when I take it out of the docking station and put it back into its casing, it does appear and I am able to access its content. Can anyone help?

Its either faulty port cable or docking or it could be a power issue

It's a 4 port docking station. I've tried it in all 4 ports and get the same result. Other drives work fine in the docking station, so I don't think that's the problem. Is it possible that the drive itself doesn't get enough power when in the docking station?
