Hard fault parameter

I wonder what Hard Fault/sec parameter in Resource Monitor ( under the Memory tab) is about? Does that mean when certain program hits the allocated memory boundary and has to swap to the virtual memory to the hard disk?

My system is a x64 bit system and has 24GB of memory, if I set up a RAM disk to be the virtual memory disk, wouldn't that make the system perform better?

If so, how can I setup a RAM disk and redirect the virtual memory to that disk?

I am thinking of using 12GB of my system as RAM disk for swapping, because I have never see any of my programs, mainly Video Editing, uses anything more than 4GB ram so far, and probably, they don't know how to use it, and they are all 32 bit software.

Any opinion appreciated.

With 24GB or RAM, your system is not going to be swapping so I don't see how it will make any difference.

You could just turnoff Virtual Memory and see how it runs. I ran that way with 4GB for about 6 months until I started playing with The Gimp and started getting large memory usage, so had to turn it back on again.

Unless you are actually having a problem. LEAVE IT ALONE. Don't fix what is not broken. You'll just break it.
In Windows 7, the page file does more then just store memory that overflows.
It keeps physical memory organized in a way.
