Hi guys. I'm stumped. I've searched on the net but I've never really found a good solution for my problem.

I have a 4h56min program in Japanese and a have a useful subtitle file with all the show translated in English in the .a s s format. However, I want to play that 14GB file on my brother's PS3 to enjoy the full HD on a 42" TV screen. But... I want the subs too and PS3 doesn't read soft-subbed MP4. So, I need to hard sub without changing the format or whatever. I tried converting the .a s s to SRT but I lose all colors and text position on the way and I don't feel like you know, reamke the subtitles to be in SRT (I also am not the creator of those subs).

Is there a good solution to hardsub those subtitles to the MP4 file? All I've seen on the net is AVI to MP4, MKV to MP4 hard subbing but nothing for no sub MP4 to hard sub MP4.

Help.

MP4 stats :

Resolution : 1440x1080 (displayed in 1920x1080)
Framerate : 29.97fps
Bitrate : 7Mbits
Video Codec : H.264
Audio Codec : 160kbps AAC, 48KHz.
Container : MP4
Format Profile : [email protected]

Note : I want to keep those setting for the finished file.

How to open MP4,MKV,WMV,RM,MOV,OGM with any editor,encoder

I only tried it once, carefully following the instructions, and it worked for subtitles on a private film. No idea if it will work for you.

I was told that you can not hard sub stuff without re-encoding, and you may experience some loss of quality as a result. I did not see any difference in the short private film I subbed, but your mileage may vary.

Some others which may be useful ( which I have not tried);

Well, thx for the help. I knew about re-encoding but... the best solution would have been Video Converter Ultimate. Problem : subtitles styles and position are ignored. It's kind of like they convert it to SRT on the fly. Also, I can't keep the same size and setting. Upgrading it to 1080 (using their standards) would bump the size from 14.5GB to 54GB! No thx. F*** that, I'll bring my bro here at home to watch on my PC.

Thx for the help anyway. +rep
