Has anyone else had this problem?

First time on the site and not sure if this is suitable for this section but I guess i'll give it a go. I recently installed the Windows 7 build that's out and everything is working fine except for my wireless internet connection i'm using on my laptop. I get 5 bars in the corner of my screen so it looks as if its not a hardware problem. But for some reason I can't connect to the internet through Firefox or IE. In Internet Explorer I get the "Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage" message. Not sure what's going on. I'm enjoying Windows 7 but for whatever reason the internet is the only thing stopping me from completely enjoying Windows 7 lol. Just wondering if anyone has anyone else faced this same problem and maybe have a solution to what the problem is. Thanks in advance.

are you using any firewalls, antivirus, if you are, try to disable it... just to check.....

I dont currently experience this problem, but ahve you tried, checking the offline mode for IE?, not sure why Firefox isnt working... firewall?

Have you looked at your device manager for a conflict on your network adapter? One of thoose yellow ? marks. If there is one maybe a driver problem. Did you click on them 4 bars and run the troubleshooter that is built into 7.. lm

ipconfig /all

What is listed next to dns servers? What ip(s) are there?

Also, check that in Internet Explorer, under tools | internet options | connections | lan settings

that there are no check boxes applied. If there are, remove it/them. Close all browsers. Reopen I.E. and try again.

Not sure if the firewall is the problem. I've tried blocking and unblocking with the firewall and it didn't seem to make a difference.

Thanks for the welcome. Everything in the Device Manager is fine. No yellow question marks at all. I tried redownloading my drivers and that didn't seem to help either. And yea I did the troubleshooting in IE.

When I click on IE I get the "Internet Explorer cannot display webpage" message. It then gives me the option to Diagnose Connection Problems. When I click that and allow Windows to detect any problem it tells me the problem found is that "The remote device or resource won't accept connection......Detected".

I had the AVG Antivirus program and for some strange reason I think this is what's causing the problem. That's if I had to take a guess. Before I installed Windows 7 I was given the warning AVG wouldn't work properly with Windows 7. I've had problems trying to delete it but i'm not sure if htat's the problem or not. I just purchased another antivirus program called Spy Sweepe but that was after I began having these networking problems.

Next to the DNS servers it says 24.93.41.127 and 24.93.41.128
and none of the boxeds were applied.

Hi rocyaice

First thing I would suggest is to ensure you have completely removed the AVG install
Have a look here for the tools ...
AVG Antivirus and Security Software - Tools download

One you have this removed fully temporarily disable your firewall and try again.

If you are successful then use the instructions in your firewall software to allow internet access

You do not state that the sites you are attempting to access, does it happen with all sites or just your home page?

You can check the connectivity from the command prompt by using the ping command type ping www.microsoft.com it will probably time out but as long as it displays the IP address it has for MS (xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx) it shows that it's not a DNS issue.

well, before we go thru all these setting guys... it would be nice to know how and what drivers were installed for what card...... may not be the correct drivers being used to start with... then on down the line of settings, etc.....

try uninstalling the adapter, reboot, login and reinstall drivers... THEN disable the adapter, THEN reboot... then come back to desktop and enable adapter, that may solve your problem... this will have to be done everytime more than likely...until the install of 7127

Not sure what's happened since I posted this and to now but for whatever reason I can't even get a wireless connection now. I have a light that tells me when i'm connected and the light stays red and in device manager I don't even see the drivers for my wireless internet.

my next point is going to be that you may have failing hardware... either modem, router or adapter... test hardware first with something you KNOW is working... try with XP/VISTA first, then go to 7... if it works fine with XP/Vista and not 7, then its a driver... if doesnt work with 7 or XP/Vista... 98% says its failing hardware, 2% says no good driver for any OS.
