hi guys i hope i have the right section for this but i couldn't find any headings for enchanted storage, please help.. i recently bought a seagate go-flex 1tb back up usb hard drive mainly because it was a giveaway at ARGOS.. anyway all is well i backed up a load of my old video collections and music i had along with some really special photos, basically the whole shooting match, 9 yards you know. i leave my p.c. on most of the time with the usb hard drive connected as i did with the older one i just elbowed into the spares drawer.last weekend my mrs had to go into hospital and i spent a couple of days going back and forward to the hospital. when she came home i went to the p.c. and clicked on the go-flex seagate drive and it was cleaned out . nothing left ,totally wiped out.no indication of anything happening, still on the same web page as i left it and no one in the house. i did notice that when i look at the drives in the tabs down the side of the computer page it now just says" drive E " where as before it always had , " seagate go-flex 1tb" ..i swear i haven':pt had to many ciders, well not yet anyway i could well do later on but does anyone have any ideas or is the place haunted...many thanks guys in advance...TG

Can you post a pic of how your disk management looks, like this? You might be able to recover your lost partition, it depends how it was lost (if it is lost)

many thanks for your help my friend. i did exactly as you said and the readings say, capacity 931.40gb..free space 930.46...100% healthy primary partition..i notice that another internal back up slave drive i have is ntfs where this new troublesome seagate usb one is fat32. could it of been ntfs and some how changed ? sorry if that sounds silly its just that they are doing the same things , saving media files but its weird how now its not being identified as seagate go-flex after this has happened now its just drive E..the haunting looks more likely ..lol.....many thanks again my friend..simon

Post a pick like DavidE says. The picture will show us how its broken up and if it is a possible partition table issue. The most important part is the area in my picture that shows the blue and purple bars.

If the partition is "lost", the first thing you'd attempt is to recover the partition--which would likely mean the files would be recovered along with the partition. This is what you should hope for.

If you can't recover the partition, then you are reduced to trying to recover the files directly, usually a tougher task.

If I understand, this drive contained file backups. Do you still have the original files and are just in danger of losing the backup copies only?
