Have IE8 save as .html by default and not .mht ?

Hi guys!

I was wondering if someone could tell me or point me to a topic somewhere about how we can change the way IE8 on Windows 7 saves webpages.

Currently the default Save As format is set to --> Web archive,Single File *.mht

I have been using ie6 until i finally upgraded to Windows 7 and I have saved for my work purposes in .html for the past 3 years. I need to continue saving in this format for the foreseeable future but clicking on the dropbox to choose this format on every webpage save gets old pretty quick

I would like to specify this as the default save as --> Webpage, complete (*.htm,*.html)

I dont have a problem editing the registry if that's the only way but any pointers in the right direction would be most appreiated

If you save as html, it will save the html file ALONG with a folder with graphics and other files.
If I have an mht as a single page, I'm missing information.

Right, I need the folder with all the files as individual files so the .mht although a nice option is incompatable with my workflow

Any idea how we can make *.htm or *.html ( complete page ) the default?

It's the default in Firefox.

Does anyone know of a way or where we can go to find out how to change it so that *.htm is the default save as option in ie8?

Earlier today I thought I had found a way to fix this by editing the registry but then realized i was waaay off, local machine is not the same thing as current user

searching the web hasn't turned up anything useful ( course that could just be me lol ) -_-

I just thought of a way to do it!

What if we create our own button or even our own toolbar that when clicked will open a new Save As dialog window with "Complete webpage *.html" as the default


Does anyone know how we can do this?

bump, plase someone/admin PLEASE help, im saving around 100 webpages/day for both "webpage only" and this is driving me nuts, dropping the freaking box down one hundred time is something WE SHOULDNT DO AFTER WE PAYED FOR VISTA/7.

anyway, im very angry and frustrated right now, theres currently no solution. no registry changes, no 3rd party program that could fix this, and nothing from sevenforums too?
