Have you ever been infected?

I really do not understand why some people run into malware so many times :D I have never ran into malware in my entire computing experience. I have confirmed it by running many many manual scanning programs and have never found anything.

All you have to do is use your common sense and 90 percent of programs will never appear...

Probably because you don't look at naughty things. LOL Of course that's not the only source. I haven't had any run-ins with malware either in a long while. I've been diligent about keeping my security apps updated and I usually only surf mostly known and trusted sites. But every now and then a gamer site or just casual surfing you can run into sites that are less safe. Especially when I see some topic I want to read about more and just click pages I'm not as familiar with.

The biggest culprits for malware are porn, "Local mom finds method for whiter teeth", "Lost 31lb in 4 weeks", etc. ads, and fake websites for MMORPGs. Just don't click ads that promise random stuff, really, and look up the names of MMORPGs to find their official websites instead of clicking a random, promising link. Porn is 60% of the issue though lol

Absolutely, without a doubt. I've had work computers infected from coworkers who did something dumb and beat Norton or Trend patching the problem. (Things like Melissa virus, I love you, etc). I've also been using PC's since around 1990..so about 20 years now. Probably encountered about 3 infections at home on my own in that time. As many others said, earlier in my computer days when I took chances with software from non-legit sources. Those days however are long gone.

However, I haven't really ran into anything in the past 5 years. Small malware traps here and there, but my software has always stopped that stuff.

Ah, yeah. Can't forget them (with their "Cute girl has orgasm on webcam" whenever you search something lol!), especially those files that are too small and people fall for it o0 like, 10kb on Limewire lol

Also, the music download sites :| Most of 'em are filled to the core with viruses.

When I go to 'the darkside' I use NoScript. Last night, it stopped an XSS attack. (I was suspicious of the website but I felt safe enough with NoScript and Sandboxie.)
