I am having an issue with my cookies being regularly wiped from my browser, but I don't know what board to list this under. I suspect it is either an issue with my HDD or antivirus program.

The quick way to find out would be to turn off the AV. If you want to stay protected during the test you can install ToolWiz TimeFreeze and run under that before turning off the AV. It's free and works well.

Basically it uses Shadow Services to redirect anything writing to the system partition to a cache. On reboot the cache is deleted. You can download files to another partition or drive if you want to keep them after the reboot.

The full paranoia way would be do some browsing, check that you have cookies. Now if you are worried about being infected with no AV running then unplug your machine from the network or if wireless disconnect via software. Then close your AV. See if the cookies got deleted. If not deleted, close the broswer. Check again etc..

It's just step by step process of elimination. Also if you are using a file cleaner like CCleaner, check the settings. It may be deleting cookies using "smart" automatic management.

I'm pretty sure I got rid of Total Defense and AVG Toolbar. I haven't checked my specs in a while because I forgot how to do it.

Use Clean boot,
http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/179159-troubleshoot-application-conflicts-performing-clean-startup.html
Click Start and type in the search box,
msconfig
Click on the suggestion on top or hit the Enter key,
Go to the Startup section and take some screen shots for a complete list,
Go to the Services section and on the bottom left Check the box to Hide All Microsoft services,
Repeat the screen shots,
See the links above my signature on how to take and upload screen shots here,
Cheers.

Also sometimes browser settings can get inadvertently changed. Cookies could be changed to "session only" or history setting could be changed to delete cookies on browser exit. If you know you didn't deliberately set either of those then you might not look, figuring no way that could be it etc.. :)

I have Firefox set to "remember history" and have checked to make sure it is set that way several times as every person and their dog uses that as their go-to answer when someone asks about cookies not being saved.

I'd just like to clarify, the problem I am having is that periodically Firefox will drop cookies for seemingly no reason. Sometimes I log into my computer for the first time of the day and my cookies are gone. Sometimes I start using Firefox, close it once, and the next time I open it the cookies are gone. Sometimes I can go a few days without the cookies being wiped, but inevitably they disappear.

If your interested in trouble shooting further please refer to post#8 and post the information requested and an update on what Clean boot does after using it a few times booting between....
Otherwise this is just a back and forth without anything we can work with :(
If you need assistance in providing the screen shots and uploading them here see the links above my signature on how,
Good luck
Cheers.
Seen this running around lately ;)

I still see no information such as if you use a system cleaner or any action you have taken to aid in diagnosing the cause. Guessing games are a waste of time. Good luck with it.
