Hi guys!

I need some assistance. Every time I close my laptop and it hibernates and I open it back up I have no internet connection. It seems the only way to fix this is to go into cmd and do ipconfig /release and then /renew. Fixes it automatically. I have been dealing with it but it is starting to become very annoying. Any ideas what could be causing this or how to fix it?

After this started happening I can no longer see my homegroup, it says no other computers connected. When I am under network I can see the other computers but cannot access them. There are 3 of us that use the wireless router and I am the only one with the issue. Their internet and homegroups seem to work fine.

Thanks!

Jen

Hi beyondjupiter

Lets try this

Right clicking ‘Computer’ and select ‘Manage’ to enter the ‘Computer Management’ tool

In the Computer Management tool, select Device Manager, find and right click your adapter and select ‘Properties’

Click the ‘Power Management’ tab and Uncheck ”Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power” – Finnish by click ‘OK'

At a glance the driver for the Ralink adaptor is either out of date or it's not a WHQL certified Windows driver, unless the virtual adaptor is maybe hiding at the top of the ipconfig?

If the driver was up to date and running the Windows approved WHQL driver, the ipconfig/all would also be showing the Microsoft Virtual WiFi miniport adaptor.

Windows update might even have an approved version of this driver.

I am going to look into the drivers now and report back. One thing I do keep noticing, not sure if it is important, but every time I go into Device Manager Cisco System VPN Adapter for 64-bit Windows is disabled. Even if I enable it, it will automatically disable itself either after a restart or maybe hibernation.

It looks like from the HP manufacture page my Ralink is more up to date. Per the Ralink website the driver was last updated 11/29/2012 and it doesn't give a version number.

Mine is Ralink RT5390R 802.11b/g/n 1x1 WiFi Adapter
the date on the driver is 11/27/2012
version 5.0.9.0

I am going to do that now and report back. Thank you.

Any reason to uninstall Avast? I have been a loyal user for quite some time.

Also, why DAEMON? I have used it for years. Is there another mounting program I can use?

I will do whatever I need to, just curious.

We see a lot of blue screen issues with both programs . For a cd emulated cd try magicISO.

They have drivers that cause BSODs .

Reason I had you use AdwCleaner is due to having adware called conduit .

How's the PC running now ? Can you go to sleep and not get disconnected on wake up ?

That is just crazy because I am super diligent about this stuff. I use Malware Bytes and Spybot.

YES!! It works!! You are seriously amazing, sir. I never thought adware would be doing that?

Hi Jen

You're welcome . Glad that fixed your issue . I didn't see any Spybot software installed . Another piece of software that does more harm than good .

Another recommendation :

Create Recovery Disc
Write down the product key under neath the laptop or the side of the desktop and keep in a safe place . Those stickers do get worn out and you won't be able to see the key if you plan to do a clean install in the future .

Thank you for the suggestion.

So Malware Bytes is okay but I should uninstall Spybot?
