I was attempting to install drivers for my Motorola Atrix phone, but once downloaded, I attempted to run them, and was confronted with the following error message:

"The system administrator has set policies to prevent this installation."

Does anybody know of any possible solutions to this?

Try right clicking the file, unblock if it shows the run as administrator.

There's no run as administrator option for MSI files.

The file you should be using is .exe

Msi's (Windows Installer Package) have .exe's sort of embedded in them.

Regardless, it's telling you that you don't have permission to run it as of right now. Are you logged on as an administrator? Check your user account permissions in Control Panel > User Accounts.

What Roderunner was referring to is this: Right click the .msi file, select "Properties." On the General tab, towards the bottom, is there a button that says "Unblock?" Click it, and OK.

Oh ok, I found that and clicked Unblock but am still getting the same error message.
And yes, I am the only account on the computer, and I am set as the administrator.

Have you still not been able to get it to run? I have 2 more suggestions, as I'm not sure what exactly could be causing this error.

1. Re-download the file. Perhaps it is corrupted.

2. Boot into Safe Mode and try installing it from there.
As your computer is starting up, press the F8 key, then use the control keys to select Safe Mode.

I have tried redownloading the file. That did not work. I also tried booting into safemode and got the same error message, for both the old file, and the new one I redownloaded.
