Hd 6850 vs hd 5850

why is the hd 6850 a lot cheaper than the hd 5850 series video cards?
even now, the new series are cheaper than the 5850 series.
does anyone know, in layman's terms, what makes the new card cheaper than the previous?

i don't wanna sound ungrateful, but it kinda throws me off.
got me doubting the new hd 6850 series cards.

Hopefully this article from Anandtech will give you a better idea. But for one, the 6800 series has less Transistors, Steam Processors and Texture Units than the 5800. Not bad given that the 6850 pretty much performs on par with the 5850. The 6850 is a great card for the price!
