HDD Space Disappearing

Hello All
I don't know what has or is happening I created a system Image using macrium reflect and then I noticed that my system image is showing more free space on my c drive than the computer shows in disc managment most of my data ia stored on external drive and bare minimum on my internal drive has anyone got any ideas as to what has or is happening as it would be much appreciated. Screen shots below.

I'm not sure this is the answer but when images are created they are compressed to a smaller footprint to save storage space.

That is a strange one, how long a time between the install and the creation of the image?
Have you run malware scans on everything?

Clean install about 3 weeks ago,scanned with malwarebytes,superantispyware,mse all clean also ran sfc and no issues.I'm stumped are you?

Does what Disk Manager says you have as far as freespace match what you see when you look at the Properties of your drive in My Computer?

You could use a utility like Windirstat to analyze your disk usage and determine which files are using what space.

WIN key | type Disk Cleanup |Enter key
Select to delete all restore points except for the very last one.


Download, install, run CCleaner.


Now how much free space on the drive?

You guys are much braver than I am. I would never let a program like Disk Cleanup make decisions about which files to delete for me. I'd rather use the Windirstat program I mentioned to analyze disk space and then do cleanup manually.

Please take a look at Disk Cleanup.

You will see that you can control what is and isn't deleted.

Disk Cleanup is a part of Windows 7 and was extensively tested and evaluated during the pre-beta and beta phases of Windows 7.

Disk Cleanup has been part of Windows for many releases now and I still would never use it. Call me old school but I'm just not that trusting when it comes to deleting files from my system..

Yes I thought win7 deleted old restore points as new ones were created. btw would you know of a third party application that I could use to selectively delete restore points.

Not right off hand but what I would do is set it to around 4GB and use the info in the tutorial at the link below to create fresh/new SR points whenever the PC is booted or re-booted, there's also an option at Step 4A to create one whenever needed; besides, restore points become less reliably as they they get older.
