Hi all - if this is better off in another dept., please feel free to move.

I have 3 SATA 7200 rpm 1 TB hard drives installed. The drives occasionally go to sleep on me. I come back to my computer after not using it for a while, d-click on My Computer, and it doesn't open right away; I hear the HD click on, and then it opens. Then a little while later, I try to access something on one of my other HDs. Same thing - no response, a little click "on", and then responsiveness is fine.

Under Power Settings > Advanced, I have HD > Turn off HD after > Setting > Never

So, I am not understanding what is going on here. Any ideas?

Thanks in advance.

I think that the power setting is only for your primary harddrive.
I will look for a fix a bit later champ. Sorry. Heading to a soxs game!

Have a good one,
Ben

Thank you for the replies. :)

Rich - No, I am not set for sleep. Turn off the display and Put the Comp to sleep are both set to never.

Never - that may be, but my primary hd does in fact go to sleep, so....

Thanks again.

Chk for hybrid sleep in power option. if it is set to on, then there is possiblity of your computer to get hibernated. U can also Create a custom power plan.

Hybrid sleep? Do not see that here. Can you ber specific as to where exactly that is?

My custom power plan dictates that nothing goes to sleep EVER.

Any other ideas?

Some drives have it hard coded to sleep at a certain amount of idle time. You can workaround that using NoSleepHD. NoSleepHD
