Hi,

I've been using Skype with my working mic for weeks and never had an issue.
Today, I tried to talk to my friends but they can't hear me. However when I play a song they hear it.
I didn't update anything or change any settings. Tried restarting the PC but that didn't work.
Checked speech recognition in Windows 7 and when my friends talked on Skype: the volume meter went up, but when I talked it stayed on zero.
So the microphone is probably working but don't know what's really happening?
:sarc:

wadie, welcome to the Seven Forums.

Have a look in the recording properties and make sure that the microphone and not "stereo mix" is set as the default playback device. Also check under playback and make sure that the mic is muted (click on speakers/headphones and click on Properties, then click on the Levels tab and look for the mic).

It's worth saying again that I never played with the settings anywhere!
I have the mic in the settings, not stereo mix and the mic isn't on mute.

I changed the mic with a different one. it worked for a while and then the exact same thing happened again with this mic. could the plug-in thingy be broken ? :\

That is a good possibility. Does it come back if you jiggle the plug?

It comes back if I jiggle the mic itself.

The mic itself, or the plug in the jack? If it is the plug in the jack, then it is likely that the jack has a loose connection inside
