Headphones plug is broken on laptop?

So its a Satellite C855-141,Toshiba.
And the headphone plug worked,but now its broken.
When I plug any headphones I hear a crack or just some sound,and then its gone.
Also the speakers are off then,they dont let a beep out.
So the laptop is getting the headphones signal but its not transferring any sound.
Is it broken,can I fix it?

I had trouble with mine too. I believe it's a Win 7 thing. Mine is working fine now. I reset the programs running it. Try uninstalling then installing,etc. Get it to default. Mine is a Dell but had similar issues.
