I just did this yesterday using the Dell Vista driver for the X1400. It was not on a Dell machine, but I used the Dell driver. You have to force Windows to install the right driver. Go into Device Manager, or through Advanced Setting in the display setting applet to get to the display adapter driver. Press Update Driver and choose that you want to select the driver yourself. It will show only the VGA as compatible. Uncheck the box that says Show Compatible Only and you will then be able to navigate to the X1400 driver. If I remember, there was two identical entries. I chose the first one. Ignore the warning that this driver is not compatible, and press some OKs. After rebooting, you'll have the right driver. Mine gave a decent WEI for graphics and gaming - more than enough to run Aero and play HDTV smoothly.

Bye.

Hey Mate can you help me?

My Laptop is Olidata and I have Ati Radeon x1200 Video Card.
So, When I install windows 7 and trying to install my Ati Driver didn't recognise my video card.
I try your method, but no comes x1400

P.S.S When I install x1200 drivers, my computer can't shutdown/restart (blue screen comes)

I don't know what Catalyst drivers you're trying to install, but the default current drivers won't work with your card.

Instead, you need to download the "Legacy" drivers. You find those at the AMD/ATI driver site by selecting Vista as the OS for your card, not Win7.

Then, when you get the driver download screen, make sure the filename includes "legacy". You should be able to download Catalyst 10.2. If that's not available, you may have to go back to 9.12.

I'm not sure that there are any Windows 7 drivers for a 200M available. AMD offers none.

If your notebook manufacturer has Vista drivers, try them. People have forced XP drivers to install for some products that lack newer ones, but I doubt that's reliable. Good luck.

There are no Radeon Win7 drivers, period. Folks have already told you that.

Read the previous post. Go to your PC manufacturer's site and look for Vista drivers, and if there are none of those, XP drivers. You can try installing the drivers using Compatibility mode.

I know this is a 2 year old thread, but I am sorting out an old E-SYSTEM machine for a friend and it has the XPRESS 200 GPU onboard too

I have installed 7 and Windows Update finds and installs the correct driver, Aero works fine after a reboot, but reboot once more and the driver no longer works

I grabbed the Legacy 10-2 Vista 32bit drivers and installed the whole CCC package in Vista compatibility mode, rebooted and so far it has stayed installed and Aero is still working

In Device Manager there is the normal XPRESS 200 entry, but also XPRESS 200 Secondary which is not installed apparently due to lack of resources... not sure what that's all about but doesn't seem to need it

Some sort of ancient CFX ?

EDIT - Reboot and driver stopped working again, POS
