help fixing bad stability

Back the OC down to what's stable and just live with it till your new gear comes in. No way to understand what's happening when we don't know the mobo make and the ram module makes and models. Plus how much do you really want to spend when you'll be getting all new rig soon.

is all the ram the same and has there been any ram error's if you get a complete 16gb mem kit it should be consistant when you match different ram or the same ram but packaged in different boxes it can also cause bad results

it is 3 2gb sticks and 1 4gb stick, blame hp for the stupidity, i didnt even get an option for 12gb. when i get my new mobo, i iwll soon after upgrade to 4 sticks of 4gb 1600 ram by gskill

He's got a HP 300z desktop and using AMD OverDrive to OC.

And any adjustments made outside of the BIOS, via OS bound software, is dangerous and will result in damage and instability.

my new cooling is in most peoples op, overkill, atleast for air cooling, but i will admit, you cant hear it unless you are trying too. i think OCing from the bios will be much easier when i get my 3770k and my new mobo

i should ask, more because i can admit im too lazy to navigate the intel website, than because im incapable, what the recomended heat limit is for a 3770k, i understand they run hotter than AMDs, but have a stricter heat managment need

Like you'll have, I have 4x4 G.Skills @ 2133 and can only get 1866 currently but with a new processor I hope to max the 2133 mhz. speed and I'm sure that difference alone will blow my mind. Problem with the extra speed is you are quickly normalized to it and wanting more.

Just the new typography of these newer mobo's are faster and more feature laden. Adjustable everything it's great but can be a large learning curve, but if you go slow or get with people with the same boards and chips then you can get idea's on their settings. I'm soon to jump to a 8 core myself.

people have told me 8 cores will benifit me more, but on the other hand, some say it is slower despite more power, and not as good for gaming. ill settle for my 3770k abd my sabertooth

The current need for 8 cores is extremely limited. It will be a while before anything will actually need 8 cores. 4 is plenty for most people.

no im curiouse if anyone knows anything about nh-d14s, becsause im not sure if this is a problem i need to address or if it is just the internal fan controller
1 fan should be at 1300rpm i believe, the other at 1200rpm, yet speed fan is stating that one of them is going 112rpm and the other at 4066rpm. and in both speed fan and overdrive, i have no ability to manually change the fan speed. both push, and pull fans are connected into either the cpu fan input or the Opt. fan input, and OD and SF are both registering them as CPU fans. if anyone knows what the problem is

pretey evenly between 3d designing and gaming, i know that sounds like a bad mixture, but they really are not that far off. and since i will contract personally with it, whats on it really wont matter as much as if it where a laptop i where to be bringing to meetings. but more TIME gameing, more USE in 3d designing if that makes any sense.

Regarding max CPU temp, this is the first time I have seen Intel's site not list the recommended max temp, strange.

so if that where "running cool" than it would be closer to AMDs recomended 55c

Intel CPUs run hotter than AMD.
You should get lower than 55°C at stock settings. If you overclock then it will get hotter, with EIST (same as coolnquiet) it will run at lower voltage/frequency when not running demanding programs. When rendering or gaming it will run at higher voltage/frequency and it will be hotter.

Mine runs at 55°C at 3.84GHz with Prime95, the 3770k should run above 4GHz at 60-65°C, which is a good temp for Intel CPU.
The previous OC'ers link I posted should have some examples.

Compare that to my quad core AMD 965 3.4 running easily OC'd at 4.1 and this morning after two hours at 65f ambient my cores are idle and happy at 32c.
