Hey. Just yesterday Windows 7 got infected with some kind of bug that cause it to lag, crashed programs and was apparently capable of piggybacking off USB sticks- as my eeePC could tell you. I've reinstalled a new copy of Windows 7 on a different partition of the same HDD but now I can't seem to format the old partition in either Windows Disk Management or EASEUS Partition Master. I checked the status of the disk and I think it might be because that partition is classed as Primary or System or something.

Does anybody have any programs or advice that can help?

Cheers.

Hello TheDeadGuy,

You might see if you can boot from your Windows 7 installation DVD, select Drive options (Advanced) when you get to it, then select to format that partition.

Hope this helps,
Shawn

I can't seem to format the old partition in either Windows Disk Management or EASEUS Partition Master

That's becuse it is the System partition containing the boot critical files.

You can delete it with something bootable, as Shawn says.

Easier to use a partition manager boot disc - the Easeus one, or even better, this free one:

Partition Wizard Bootable CD allows user to boot computer directly to manage partition.

You then need to mark your 7 partition Active and run startup repair from the dvd 3 times.

Cheers for that. I've got my new Windows 7 RC up and running and the boot manager is a-ok. Now, all I have to do is wait for the student deal on Windows 7 in Australia and I'll be set :D
