Help Please with Bandwidth Speed +ICS!

First off just want to say hello as I'm new to these forums. It's unfortunate that my first post is asking for help but thats life I guess... Anyways, I have been using Windows XP SP3 for years now and finally decided to upgrade to Windows 7 two days ago. I am was very impressed with its user interface and new features it had to offer though I encountered 2 problems which have been very stressful to deal with:

1. My internet is extremely slow (about 10% of what it is supposed to be.) I have checked various places online for information on this problem and I have not found a solution yet.

I have tried:

- Uninstalling the drivers I have for my network cards and re-installing the drivers from the CD that came with motherboard (network cards were attached to the motherboard) Failed

- Running a windows update to see if there is updated drivers for my network cards. Failed

- Trying different browsers (ex; Google Chrome, Firefox, Internet Explorer 8) Failed

- Opening up GPEDIT.MSC > administrator templates > Network > Qos Packet Scheduler > Limit Reservable bandwidth > enable this feature and putting the value to 0%. (have also tried disabled) Failed

- Opening up command prompt and entering in the command "netsh int tcp set global autotuninglevel=disabled" (without the " " ) Failed

- disabling the features on my network card that I dont use. (Qos Packet Scheduler, Internet Protocol Version 6, Link-Layer Topology Discovery Mapper I/O Drvier, Link-Layer Topology Discovery Responder) Failed

these were the most common answers I saw from people with the same problem but I have not gotten solution to this problem. It is both my download and upload speed that is really poor and it not only affects me when browsing the web but also in gaming. I have confirmed that the problem is not with my ISP provider.

2. I have 2 PC's 1 with windows 7 and another with windows XP service pack 3 that I would like to be able to share files and internet between the two. My Windows 7 PC has 2 Ethernet cards; one for internet and the other to communicate to the Windows XP PC. I have both computers set up in the same Workgroup name and have gotten them to communicate and share files fine but no internet. After messing around with some options I could not get the internet to work. On the Windows 7 PC the Network Sharing Center says I have 2 active networks: 1 for internet and the other is a "Unidentified Network" (Public Network.) Clicking on the Unidentified Network Icon opens up a window that gives the option to change the network's name however when I try to type something it wont let me so I cant change any information. Where it says "Public Network" (to the right of the Icon) is blacked out and wont give me the option to choose what type of network I want it to be. (Home, Work, Public.) The Unidentified Network Access type says it does not have Internet access. I dont know how to change this.

If anyone can give me answer to either of these 2 problems it will be greatly appreciated as I have been stuck with this dilema for 2 days now and dont want to go back to using 2 Windows XP PC's after having a taste of Win7.

From what I've read and heard, you'll want to set up a bridge between your two computers for the networking card. Also, make sure that your networked using a workgroup, not a homegroup. Homegroups are only used to network two Windows 7 PC's. Here's some info on the subject:

As far as your internet goes, you'll want to make sure that your network card is compatible with Windows 7 in the first place. Most are, but it's always worth the time to check.

Once you've done that, go to your network card manufacturer's website and download the latest drivers they have for your version (32/64-bit) of Windows 7. If they don't have Windows 7 drivers, you can try using Windows Vista drivers with compatibility mode enabled.

If you're still having trouble once you're set your network up properly, fill in your system specs on the forums and wait for more advice. You can also try some of the tools over at dslreports.com

thank you notsograymatter for the reply. I managed to get my ICS problem fixed with the link you gave with Supernoodles post. Thank you as well Supernoodles if your reading this.

As for my slow internet goes I managed to fix it as well...
