Yeah apparently it is compatible.... Why are you asking? If it's already in it and you're linking a monitor cable from the card to your monitor then it's working...

i ask because my computer doesn't recognize it because it is using the integrated video card. Do you know how to disable it. I've tried going in to the BIOS and to no avail. It does not show up under display adapters in Device Manager. the olny thing showing up there is a standard VGA adapter which i disabled

It doesn't recognize it? So you plug in the cable from the card to the monitor and there's no display, and you're forced to use your onboard card? Or you still plug it in from the card to the monitor but it still uses integrated graphics?

Yep.
VGA - blue
DVI - White
HDMI - Black

So what you're saying is, you've checked that the VGA cable is linked from the graphics card to the monitor, but when you check Device Manager, your card doesn't show up?

Has your computer warranty expired yet?
If it has, then open it up and try taking the card out, cleaning the slot with compressed air and then putting the card back in again.
If the warranty hasn't expired (which I assume it hasn't, otherwise you'd have made this thread a lot earlier) then you should contact your computer manufacturer, because sometimes in their policy, they'll void the warranty if they detect that someone else has opened up your computer.

Good, remember to turn off all the power before opening it - pull the plug and hold down the "on" button for 30 seconds first.

No.
Pull out the plug.
Hold "on" button for about 20-30 seconds.
Remove case.
Every 5 minutes or so (if you're spending a bit of time on it) touch a piece of metal (to remove any static electricity that might be building up on your body).
Remember, if you pull on the card and it doesn't come out straight away, check that you've taken out all the screws, locks etc. Once forced my old computer's GPU out and I snapped the board in half. :/

Only other thing you can do is contact AMD or who ever made that particular card and start a RMA video cards are under warrenty for 3 years atleast and that series is barley 3 years old so i would look into replacing it via manufacturer

Return to Manufacturer Assessment

That should be the proper term for that abriviation but i could be wrong but in any case it is used to report a bad product by manufacturer warrenty

That way it can be replaced with no cost to you if it is damaged and bad

Also your Board if it is AGP there is no way it would have fit in that slot Tottaly different interface

I would assume you are running Pci -e but your problem might be something else

Return Material Authorization, I've usually seem it as.

(It means that the maker has authorized you to return a possibly defective product for inspection.)

If you're getting graphics when the monitor is connected to the graphics card, then the graphic card is working. It sounds like it's running with the generic (VGA) drivers.

AGP cards may be a little dicey with Windows 7. As your PC is from 2004, apparently, a little struggle may be expected. Good luck.

I suppose that you have something other than a 5450 (3450, perhaps?) as I doubt that there's a 5XXX card in AGP.

Have you tried these drivers?

AMD Catalyst
