hey guys i just got for christmas a new Acer Timeline X laptop
opening it a amazing laptop but i cannot connect to my house network but other networks i can connect to.
so i cannot connect to my main wireless network which is provided by bell(Canada)

i called bell and we went through all this troubleshooting and then she said that it had to do with the laptop and not the router or internet.I then called Acer and then they are saying that i have to take it to a local store.

so should i return the laptop or is there a way to fix this?

Agree about taking it back but there is the possibility that your wireless switch is off or your wireless adapter is powered off. check the settings in your control panel for devices. Also, you might want to look at the software that comes with the computer for wireless adapter software. Also (lots of also's)
as a last resort RTFM and see if you have to open your network access to the wireless.
As always, your av could be stopping you, What anti-virus is installed?
What is the model number of your new laptop?

Would it have anything to do with setting a security key to access the wireless router??? Surly your wireless is setup for WPA or something. You might check your Router setup to see if it's setup for DHCP server protocol and the range of addresses is more than two (I think by default it's set for a bunch). meees thinks...It could be as simple as turning the laptop off then on... to let the router assign an IP. I've seen this happend a few times.

Might try resetting your router... unplug it for a minute or so. I'd be digging into the router settings if this was my situation. For this We need to know the model # and name of router.

The other networks may not have been secure and easy to acquire.....
Luck to you m8... and plez let us know how it turned out
