Ram

I usually run my ram a little over max especially if you overclock helps with stability I never use auto settings in the bios i set everything manually you may want to loosen timings a bit

like instead of 8-8-8-24 try 9-9-9-24 I would at least give the ram the max stock voltage I don't know what voltage settings you have you in your bios but you could give a little bit more

what are you using for a power supply

Im assuming youve done the basics already, all drivers up to date, chipset etc?
Have you tested for stablitiy with all the DIMMS full?
Possibly why it seems slower, if not completely stable.

You may need to underclock the RAM slightly to get stable with all 4 slots full , or increase NB voltages to compensate for the additional load..

All boards are different, and react differently.

When the say its rated for X speed up to X amount of RAM, doesn't always mean it can do both at the same time.

It depends on the board itself.

May also want to check the Man. site, to see if theres a critical bios update relating to RAM

And as computersplus suggested, set the voltage to whatever the RAM is rated for at its MAX side.

overclocking will be much more difficult with all slots full as well.

Startup

in msconfig look at your startup tab and get rid of as much stuff from the startup list that is not essential which is most of it then on the services tab check the box that says hide MS services then what is left in the list you can uncheck most of that then boot windows normally and see what you get

If this is a video card, see if you can go to your ATI or Nvidia driver site and download older driver set, I had to roll back my drivers 2nd from the newest to get my games to work and i had o hack my ini file that installs the drivers just to get it to work. it wansn't working too well playing left 4 dead 2. It would join in the game and freeze and now its all pretty

yeah i was seeing that too....

Another thing you can look at too. When you installed windows did you do a upgrade from Vista or Clean install?

When I upgraded my mom's computer.... her computer could take the 800mhz but i got the ones step higher with the heatsinks on them and replaced all the Ram... sometimes if your not using the same RAM that can do it too. I replaced all the ram at the same time.

You got to understand if you didn't build the computer and you bought it from the store.. you pretty much were entitled to the cheapest **** when you bought it. So, you get what you paid for...
