Solved Hibernation failed with error: The request is not supported

Thank you for the explicit instructions on how to activate hibernation. Unfortunately, I am getting the following message when entering the powercfg -h on:

Hibernation failed with the following error: The request is not supported.

The following items are preventing hibernation on this system.
There are one or more legacy drivers installed:
VgaSave
An internal system component has disabled hibernation.


PLEASE HELP!!! Can I disable the VgaSave driver?

Welcome to Seven Forums bbossoxx. The VgaSave is a default system driver. Have you tried updating your display driver? If no help, suggest running the System File Checker

Still No luck

I ran the System File Checker and there were no errors or other issues reported. Now what do I do?

Hi

I too have encountered the here-again, gone-again hiberfil.sys problem. And I too have an OS partition with a 16kb cluster size. Clearly, there is a bug in Windows 7 RTM (64-bit) that is related to cluster size, not video drivers. I have, however, found a workaround. Use Group Policy to run "powercfg -h on" at startup and "powercfg -h off" at shutdown. This keeps the hibernation file from being deleted every other reboot.

Interesting, but my system is not allowing me any hybrid sleep options or hibernation in the menu!

Can you please upload the MSINFO32 file?

Start> RUN> "MSINFO32" without the quotes then hit [Enter].
In "MSINFO32" go to, File> Save> name it your user-name and upload.
