Hi Strider91, welcome to the Forum.

No it wont protect the data.

I see in your System Specs you show your Anti Virus as NA, which I assume means you don't use one. This is very risky & you should definitely protect your data by running one. Of course using an AV program is not a 100% guarantee that you wont get infected but it's certainly better than not having one.

Most virus don't target on data but on executable files.

The chances you loose all data are higher on a disk failure than on a virus attack.

You MUST have and regularly do a backup of your data.
I have a boot able disk that I only connect it to the MB once a week. Once it's booted, I have a backup program that copy all my folder from /Users/<name> to the backup disk.

I used AVG a long time ago. It became a little heavy and with a other functions other than anti virus.
Now I use AVIRA - http://install.avira-update.com/package/antivirus/win/en-us/avira_antivirus_en-us.exe
Spyware - SUPERAntiSpyware - Downloading File

I never had a virus on my computer but I daily have many attempts to enter my computer so I think a good firewall is more important than antivirus. Best Free Firewall Protection | Gizmo's Freeware
I use an old zonealarm version.
