Hi everyone.

I bought my mom a refurbished PC and no sound comes out of the speakers. I have made multiple attempts to update the sound driver with no luck. The salesperson over the phone told me I needed to download a new sound driver, but offered no help in identifying which one. I have filled out the system info specs and would appreciate the help in identifying which driver to download.

Please and thank you!

If you have the "HD Audio Codec" listed as the sound device/driver that is the generic Windows driver and many systems need vendor specific sound drivers.

Without the actual Lenovo PC model number there is no way we (or you) can try to find the correct driver.

I think this is the PC model number:
MT-M: 8813-A64
S/N: LKYCBTO

If I'm not looking in the right place/have the wrong number, could you please explain where I could find it? Sorry so daft.

Thanks.

Just a Wild guess but try the RealTek audio drivers, lots of my computers usually use these audio drivers. There's three differnt driver sets,I would try the High Definition Audio Codecs driver in the link first and if that doesn't work then try the other 2 in the link.

type device manager in the search box in the start menu, then open device manager scroll down to the speaker and click the small arrow beside it this will open a list /tree and it will tell you what your sound drivers are. then
right clicking on it gives you a option to update driver software.
failing that
search the lenovo site for a sound driver for your model, i have a lenovo laptop and it uses a conextant smart audio hd.

If you have the "HD Audio Codec" listed as the sound device/driver that is the generic Windows driver and many systems need vendor specific sound drivers.

Without the actual Lenovo PC model number there is no way we (or you) can try to find the correct driver.

I have an HP Pavilion dv7 with Windows 7 64 bit and Windows XP Mode. I have been having trouble the audio for a few months now. The sound test works all the time. Headphones works. The video runs with out audio. The DVD does not work. Reinstalled driver for DVD it worked when the notebook was on. Shut down restart all Windows Chimes work. Video works no audio.

Reinstalled HP driver software audio worked. Start up next day no audio. Somethings changes after shutdown.

Installed Realtek driver today audio worked. Complete shut down for test video no audio.

Yesterday the Sound, video and game conrollers

(1) High Definition Audio Device
(2) High Definition Audio Device

Uninstaled IDT and installed sp59542

After installation Sound, video and game conrollers

(1) High Definition Audio Device
(2) IDT High Definition Audio CODEC

After the installation the DVD and all audio links works.

This morning started the notebook. Windows chime. No Audio on links or DVD. The Sound test works.

DPC LATENCY CHECKER V1.3.0

Some device drivers on this machine behave bad and will probably cause drop-outs in real-time audio and/or video streams. To isolate the misbehaving driver use Device Manager and disable/re-enable various devices, one at a time. Try network and W-LAN adapters, modems, internal sound devices, USB host controllers, etc.

TEST INTERVAL: 1000 us

CURRENT LATENCY: 105 TO 500 us

ABSOLUTE MAXIMUM: 2047us
