I'm new here so sorry if this is in the wrong place. I did a scan on my laptop tonight with malwarebytes and it found a file called pmuhijack, I was just wondering if someone could tell what exactly a file like this does and how I could keep from getting another in the future. I'm not real familiar with computers, I've got AVG free and malwarebytes, don't know if there's anything better out there.

Welcome to SevenForums.

Make scans with the following:

-Kaspersky TDSSKiller
-ESET online scanner
In addition, you may run the malicious software removal tool and WDO:
Replace AVG with MSE and make a full scan with MSE as well.
MSE is recommended from a strict BSOD perspective, compatibility & stability compared to other antiviruses/internet security software:-
:warn: Do not start the free trial of Malware Bytes; remember to deselect that option when prompted.

Run a full scan with both (separately) once downloaded, installed and updated.

Thanks. Ran a scan with all of them and didn't find anything so I guess I'm safe.
