Hello,

I recently made a mistake and did a complete HP system restore ad now Ive got to re-install alot of my programs. One of them is a program someons else installed a long time ago on my computer called Home Essentials 97. I really used Winword from that CD all of the time and now its gone. I dont want any of the newer versions, I want the one that I had.

But when I try to install it from he CD it acts like it went through the entire installation. I can click on the shortcut I put on my desktop and it tells me to insert the CD, and I do and it works. But I wanted to install it and keep it there without having to use the CD.

I tried clicking on everything that I thought could be the right thing that would set it up on my computer but to no avail. Can anyone help please?

I jus want my Winword back

and why it is that when I click on the Winword icon and have the CD inserted and it does work- why isnt the normal 'table' options there? I liked the ones that look like the kind of 3-d tables I do on my html pages, but those are there anymore. The ones that used to be at the very end of the list of table options. Where did they go?

1) Word 97 is unlikely to work perfectly in Win7. Every product has a life cycle and one should pay heed to that fact. If for some reason, you must use Word 97, try it in a virtual environment such as MS Virtual PC or VMWare or Virtualbox.

2) Suggest you buy a copy of Office 2010 or Office 2007. If you want a free office suite, try Open Office.

Office 97 does not work well with windows 7, we have failed it in testing at work. Major issues in all apps.
