Home Group and Network Issues

Yes there was a bit of thrashing about in those ipconfig's, had to straighten that out first.

It's best to keep the number of adaptors and connection to minimum as it tends to create problems down the line. Let us know if you need any help setting up the Homegroup, it really works well for me. The A/V's you need to be careful with as well because they can wreck havoc with sharing.

What's good about Homegroup is that you can add folders from other harddrive's and they all show up in the same place which is really good for movie collections and that sort of thing. It also greatly simplifies the Network set up once you figure it all out.

Well, home group is still a problem. The laptop thinks it can join but when I try to, it fails. For the time being, I just want to use my computers rather than pick up their dirty clothes.

SIGH!!! I was afraid of this. I rebooted the notebook; WLAN comes on and immediately connects wireless. So, I disconnect it and that leaves only the lan connection. Well, all is not good. Again, no printer from the notebook. And under Network, again, there is only 1 Media Device, 3 Network Infrastructure devices (including the removed and long gone WRT160N) and one storage device. NO COMPUTER. WHAT DO I DO NOW?

And just to be smarmy the Devices Dialog box for the Epson 3800 says, Printer: Offline-Offline.

Additional info: I tried to configure the port for the printer and I got an error dialog box which said that the server print spooler service is not running. Please restart the spooler on the server or restart the server machine.

But it is running on the "server" (which is the desktop). OH, why me?

Hold on a second. Are you connecting via wireless and ethernet at the same time? If so, don't do that. Pick one or the other, not both.
