This has happened twice in the few months.

PC #1 says it is not part of a Homegroup. But PC #2 does recognize PC #1.

PC #1 ask to join Homegroup & I enter the password but it does not work.

I did the troubleshooting but it did not find anything.

I had both PCs leave the Homegroup & started fresh & created a Homegroup with a new password & this got things back to normal. But what would cause PC #1 to get kicked out of the Homegroup? And is there a simpler way to get it back in without having to start a new Homegroup?

For this problem, try going to the file location in the picture at "peer networking" and delete the files below the black line on every machine that connects to the Homegroup.

These files tend to build up when creating Homegroups and eventually start causing problems with machines vanishing or unable to leave or join the Homegroup.

After deleting those files reboot both machines and try creating a new Homegroup and rejoin from the other machine.

Thanks for the information. Currently it's working properly, but if/when it acts up again I'll follow your instructions.
